1

Stock up

It should go without saying - get into the habit of buying fresh groceries every week! If you don’t have any food in the house, you are going to fall into the trap of ordering in all the time. However, if you have spent hard earned money on kitchen ingredients, then you will definitely feel more obliged to use them before they go off.

2

Consider Cost

Takeout food isn’t the cheapest, and if you are getting it a couple of times a week, you are probably spending upwards of $25 or so just for two little meals. You will snap out of this habit pronto if you just take a second to think about all of the other things that you can be being with that money. Things that will last you longer than the five minutes it takes to eat!

3

Bulk Cook

When you have a few free hours on Sunday evening, spend some time in the kitchen and do a big bulk cook of something tasty that you can portion out and have for dinner all week long. Doing this ensures that you always have something to come home to and heat up quick. You don’t even have to consider gabbing a takeout menu.

4

Enjoy Cooking

Buy yourself a few fun cookbooks and teach yourself to actually enjoy cooking. If you see this is an enjoyable activity rather than a boring task, you will be much more motivated to cook your own meals all the time.

5

Occasional Treat

The best way to stay on track is to not go cold turkey, but allow yourself to have a takeout maybe once a month. The more you deprive yourself, the more you crave, so indulging once in a while will help to keep on track in the long run.
