1

It is Well-Balanced

One of the top reasons to ditch your diet and focus on healthy eating is because eating healthy allows you to eat a well-balanced diet. Rather than cut out entire food groups, eating healthy focuses on creating a balance between all food groups so you are getting all of the necessary nutrients and minerals.

2

You Won’t Stick to a Diet

Diets sound great when you first start them, but after a month or two of only eating certain foods and cutting out entire food groups, it will be harder to stick to a diet. You will eventually get bored of such a strict rigid diet and fall back into your unhealthy eating patterns.

3

You Will Keep the Weight off

Going along with not sticking to diets, it is easier to stick to a healthy eating plan, and therefore easier to keep weight off. When you eventually lose interest in your diet, you will gain back all of the weight you lost. All of your hard work towards losing weight will have been for nothing. Eating healthy is easier in the long-run and will help you keep the weight off with less effort.

4

It Will Inspire Lifestyle Changes

When you diet, you assume that all you need to do is diet to lose weight and feel great. When you eat healthy, you not only focus on living healthy through the food you eat, but also to reform your lifestyle to improve your health. Eating healthy is more along the lines of a lifestyle change than a diet. You will want to feel great in all aspects of your life so you will work out more and make overall healthier choices.

5

More Variety

Some of my friends have followed diets where they can’t eat carbs, meat, they go vegan, or even eat only 1 or 2 specific foods a day. While that might sound great to them, I love having a variety of food in my diet. When you eat healthy, you are balancing the food groups, which allows for way more variety in terms of the types of food you can eat. Ditch your diet and you will see all the great ways you can eat healthy without sticking to a few food groups.

Famous Quotes

To give oneself earnestly to the duties due to men, and, while respecting spiritual beings, to keep aloof from them, may be called wisdom.

Focuses on the Process Rather than the Outcome

People who diet usually only do so because they want to lose a ton of weight in almost no time. It is a constant race to see how fast you can reach your target goal. Rather than focus on the number on the scale, eating healthy promotes awareness of the food you are putting into your body and how good you feel about eating healthy.

Simple & Easy

Eating healthy is way easier than sticking to some complicated diet. Keep healthy foods like fruits and veggies in your house, limit junk food, don’t go out to eat, and make smart choices. It does not have to be a huge battle to eat healthy. I personally think it is 10 times easier to stick to a healthy eating plan that have to figure out some strange diet that promises fast results.

Diets promise us that we can lose weight, feel great, and live the life we want just by following some strange set of rules. But diets rarely work in the long term and can actually be incredibly unhealthy. What did you think of these reasons to ditch your diet? Have you gone on a diet that was restricting and didn’t last? Do you think eating healthier is a better idea than some fad diet?

Where Thoughts and Opinions Converge

I need to say thank you to the author for writing this article. At this point I'm completely fed up of "weight loss" articles that focus on "fast and easy" instead of healthy and gradual/maintainable. Great article, AWS needs more like it
