1. You Don’t Have to Fast for Days at a Time

Perfect, right? With mini fasting, you take short breaks from eating, usually between 16 and 36 hours, followed by 8 hours of eating how you want to. The specific amount of time that you’ll fast depends on the program you choose. Experts say that eating like this can help you drop pounds and it’s much easier than the restrictive diets that deprive you of the foods you love.

2. It Works by Depleting Your Glucose Stores

When you fast, your body runs out of glucose for energy and starts burning fat instead. This helps you lose weight over time. In fact, some women report feeling more energy during a fast because of this phenomenon. Over time, you’ll shed fat stores, which can lead to weight loss and an overall reduction in your waist, hip, thigh and arm size.

3. Doctors Say Mini Fasting Can Prevent Diabetes

If you go days without eating, your blood sugar levels tend to suffer. However, with mini fasting, you help keep your levels on an even keel. This is because you’ll be eating during specific time frames, which helps prevent the spikes and crashes that can occur when you skip meals for days at a time. This helps your body regulate insulin, which can help reduce the risk of diabetes.

4. Research Shows That Mini Fasting Can Help You Live Longer

Maybe the fountain of youth is actually mini fasting. Even if it’s not, researchers have found that following this style of eating can help you add years to your life. Studies show that mini fasting activates a certain gene that plays a role in protecting your body from aging. More research is needed, but there’s hope, right?

5. Mini Fasting Doesn’t Come without Its Share of Risks

As with any diet, mini fasting isn’t perfect. There are several risks to consider before giving it a go. Some dieting experts say that the weight loss benefits of mini fasting are lower than those that come with eating moderately in a normal pattern. In addition, it takes a lot of planning to stick with a mini fasting program and some of the plans limit your exercise to conserve energy. It’s important to weigh the pros and cons before getting started.

6. It’s Not Right for Everyone

Just like with any diet, mini fasting isn’t an appropriate choice for all girls. Obviously, if you’re pregnant or breastfeeding, you shouldn’t try it. Women with health conditions like diabetes or eating disorders are likewise not candidates for the program. The best thing to do is talk to your doctor to be sure mini fasting is safe for you.

7. You Have Several Options when It Comes to Mini Fasting Programs

Several experts have created a version of the mini fasting diet. Check them all out before getting started so that you can choose the one that’s best for you. Your options include The Every Other Day Diet, the Warrior Diet and the Eat Stop Eat diet. Each has a book and a website that can guide you.

Have you ever tried mini fasting? What were the benefits and drawbacks for you? If you haven’t tried it, would you consider giving it a go?

Where Thoughts and Opinions Converge

They say that mini fasting is good read the description

I.e. Intermittent fasting. It works, but it's a little challenging at first but your body is able to adjust fairly quickly. Really helps when your fasting and incorporating a weight training regimen with it as well. :)

Another ridiculous fad

Just be careful not to fast too long!

I guess what I don't get is that nutritionists, trainers and medical professionals have all questioned the efficacy of fasting, yet it remains a popular fad...?

This doesn't sound very good. Even if this is ok, you NEED to make sure you are eating 1200 calories a day minimum. That is the amount the body needs just to function. If you don't, you are starving yourself.
