There are so many wonderful ways to speed up your metabolism that require no pills, no crazy diets, and no long hours at the gym. There’s too much to life to be consumed in that kind of madness. So, to show you some ways to speed up your metabolism without dieting, I’ve rounded up my favorite tips, which have been proven to help myself and members of my family.
1. Get Your Workout in Early
Though you don’t need to spend hours at the gym, one of the best ways to speed up your metabolism is to exercise. And, it’s been proven people who exercise in the morning have a higher metabolism than those who work out n the later hours of the day. Your body has more energy in the mornings, once you get going, and has had less food to bog it down all day. You can and maybe should eat a little something before your workout, but either way, getting up to ensure it gets done is a great way to jump start your engine!
2. Eat Protein at Each Meal
Another easy way to speed up your metabolism is to eat protein at all your meals. Protein takes a lot of work from your system, and in the process, helps build muscles, which burn fat. The digestion of protein also stimulates fat burn and boosts metabolism. Add clean and lean sources of protein to every meal and snack you have. No need to go crazy on the size, since even a little will go a long way.
3. Eat Coconut Oil
Coconut oil and coconut butter, have been proven to enhance your metabolism, help you lose weight, and squash sugar cravings. They also give you so much energy! Both are also amazing for your mood, and they’re delicious to consume in various ways. Coconut oil is also amazing for your thyroid, which has other benefits for metabolism in its own way.
4. Get in Your Greens
Leafy greens can automatically assist in a faster metabolism, because they keep the body clean. They also fill you up, not out, and satisfy you, despite them being low in calories. Greens are rich in magnesium, which is a top nutrient needed for your metabolism, and to control stress in the body. Getting enough magnesium can help you sleep better, ward off depression, provide constant energy throughout the day, and quell anxiety. Be sure to buy organic greens, since the soil is where magnesium is manufactured and produced. Inorganic soil does not produce magnesium at all due to the pesticides and other chemicals used in farming, which deplete it of nutrients.
5. Get 8 Hours Minimum
I know you already know you need enough sleep, but I’m telling you that it is a must if you want a healthy metabolism. Your body can not optimally run at its peak without at least 8 hours. Some people might get by on 6 or even 7, but 8 is the magic number. Do your best to make sure it happens. Certain hormones in the body are produced in sleep that not only help repair your muscles, but also burn fat. The longer they are in action, the better. If you can get in 9, great! Give your body what it needs and go to bed early. Your metabolism will take an automatic boost from this one change.
6. Manage Your Stress
Stress wrecks your metabolism. It actually breaks down the body at a cellular level, and can cause fat storage in your tissues. Stress is of course, inevitable, so you need to learn to manage it before it manages you. Don’t take your stress out on the chips and ice cream either now! Find an exercise that takes the stress away, take a hot bath, do yoga, try meditation, read a book, go for a drive, or have a square of dark chocolate, which is great! All of these are awesome and healthy tips to manage your stress the right way. Booze, binging, and keeping it in? Not so much!
7. Quit Eating Processed Food
You must quit eating processed food if you want to boost your metabolism. Processed food is one of the most detrimental things you can feed your body and will hinder your metabolism no matter what else you do. Once your taste buds learn to thrive off fresh foods, you’ll wonder how you ever ate processed foods anyway. I’m telling you, your energy just soars when you operate off fresh foods and this is because your metabolism is doing its thing the way it wants to!
Having a healthy metabolism really doesn’t take too much work. You don’t have to “count” anything, and essentially, if you just did these 7 steps, and drink your water of course, you’d see a huge difference quickly. I also suggest cutting all the sugar out of your diet, since it causes weight gain faster than anything else. Do you have a metabolism boosting tip?
