1

Make Smaller Goals Every Month

Rather than trying to maintain and keep up with one huge goal over the course of a year, come up with smaller goals you want to hit every month. Whether it’s a weight goal, or a switch in what you eat, or maybe your workout plan, it’s good to switch things up every once in a while! Plus, shortening the time frame to achieve your goal will help you stick to it rather than grow complacent! Another benefit is that after a month, your lifestyle change may stick and become a habit! I personally think coming up with different goals for every month is one of the best tips for sticking to your New Year’s diet!

2

Switch up Your Workout

Just like picking new goals every month, it’s also important to change your workout every so often. It combats complacency, which leads to bad and inefficient workouts, and keeps you from getting bored with your regular routine. The more you switch it up, the more fun your workout will be!

3

Find New Recipes Every Week

Rather than eating the same boring foods and getting bored of the same diet, make it your mission to pick a few new recipes to try out every week. No one wants to stick to a diet of food that they don’t like. With the Internet the way that it is today, it’s so easy to find healthy recipes with food that you love to eat. Who knows? You may just find a few favorites to last a lifetime!

4

Encourage Yourself

Positive reinforcement will help you an immeasurable amount when it comes to sticking to your New Year’s diet! Remind yourself of why you’re changing your lifestyle in the first place all day. In the morning, read your list of goals and encouragement. Keep the list on your phone too, so when you’re craving your favorite “bad” food, you can pull it out and combat your cravings!

5

Food Diary

Keeping a food diary is also essential to sticking to a diet. There are so many food diary apps out right now that make it worlds easier to keep up with it! It’s easy to forget how much food you put in your mouth on a daily basis when you’re not seeing it laid out in front of you. Plus, studies have shown that you lose more weight when you keep a food diary, so why not try it out?

Spice up Your Life

Add spice to your favorite foods! A diet doesn’t need to mean eating bland food. Adding spice to your favorite foods and your new recipes not only makes “diet” foods less boring, but it also speeds up your metabolism! Spicy foods create heat in your body that boosts your metabolism, meaning that you can help speed up weight loss while also adding flavor to your diet!

7

Treat Yourself

While it’s good to be strict and regimented in your diet and lifestyle change, it’s also so important to treat yourself every now and then. It’s okay to have a scoop or two of your favorite ice cream once in a while, just don’t eat the entire carton. It’s okay to skip a workout once or twice, just don’t make it a habit. It’s important to have a balance in your life, and you need to treat yourself to maintain that balance!
