The low fibre and protein content in white bread means that is can be digested very quickly, and this can cause a blood sugar spike and subsequent crash leaving you feeling hungry and irritable.
This blood sugar issue also makes a person much more susceptible to developing type 2 diabetes. This is because when your blood sugar rises quickly, an excess of insulin is released into your bloodstream to push the sugar into your body’s cells.
4. Weight Gain
The nutritional nothingness of white bread means that you are more likely to keep eating more of it to feel full. This will inevitably lead to you consuming more calories than you need to and potentially gaining weight.

A recent study has found a link between refined carbohydrates like white bread and feelings as serious as real depression, especially in postmenopausal women. That is something to consider if you are prone to mood swings and negative feelings.
