My Experience Being a Vegan ...

VEGAN, OH MY!
“Would you like chicken or beef with your pasta” “No thanks, I’m vegan.” I'd like to share my experience of being a vegan.

Now we all know what saying follows after one finds out you’re not a meat lover, right? “So, may I ask how do you get your protein?” If people only knew the need for protein is far less important than keeping our bodies healthier while lessening the excessive consumption of meat to better our health long term.

Now, before anyone thinks I am trying to offend their choice with what they decide to eat, just let it be known that is far from the case. I'm just here to voice my fairly new found knowledge, love and respect for the vegans out there and to share my experience of being a vegan. I used to think, "how can someone not eat meat or how can they can only eat salads," which is pure ignorance if I say so myself. The world of veganism is real and there are plenty of options that are satisfying, fulfilling and beneficial.

With the click of a button, you have access to fabulous vegan recipes, places to dine with friends and family and so much more! Many can be shown to a whole new world of healthier and tastier recipes to try out right in the comfort of our own home. May I also add how many animals in the process would be spared? The cruel acts committed by humans just to have a juicy burger or steak is truly sad. But like I said, I’m not here to judge, just to simply shed a bit of light on the issue at hand.

Besides that, let’s talk about the fun stuff when it comes to being vegan or on the journey to becoming one. With the rise of veganism, the demand for it has now been set in place! Even restaurants like McDonalds & A&W are now starting to accommodate the vegan crowd. We have our summer ‘Vegan Fest’ that tours places like Toronto, New York, LA and more! Also, ‘Vegan Drink Fest’ that has a large following which just started over a couple of years ago.

Most of us, including myself, have a serious love for comfort food and don’t want to give that up but who can blame us. Burgers and fries are a classic comfort food for many but what if I told you giving it up isn’t even an option. I have listed a few of my favorite go-to spots in Toronto and for when I’m out of town and need a quick fix.

Even if you don’t go vegan, it doesn’t matter. This post introduces you to what you’re missing out on, which is something greater and super beneficial to your health. As there are many other ways to stay healthy, starting with what you consume on the daily is a start to even greater health, wouldn’t you say so?
